I just received this email from an Egyptian friend of mine, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, who works in Sharm El Sheikh. I sent him an SMS text message when I heard of the terrorist attack, but he never got back to me. Until today, that is. The mail speaks for itself...

unbelievable.
My friend Andrea spent some time there last year, as well, when she was teaching in Kuwait.
She was very concerned for friends.
I'm glad your friend is OK.
powerful. My friend was vacationing in sharm the week before...
How very sad ! THe world is a scary place to be now! RYC: Yes the main area all around my condo are kept by a company that does maintaince and upkeep, but my own little area we are responsible for. The new fence is higher an d looks nicer gives more privacy. However my neighbor stated that now it is hard to talk over the fence tends to isolate people more. The world needs to have less fences so people can get to know each other better. I feel so sorry for all the poor innocent people that are killed and hurt by this terror. Take care hope you are finding a job and a new place. Only five minutes and one's life can be changed forever! There for the grace of God go I.
Thank you for sharing this. Who will be next?
wow....
Amazing.
Powerful stuff. I'm still remembering our 9/11 experience, of course, and my close relationship with many of the New Yorkers who actually were up close and personal with what happened that fateful day that changed the world. Thank you, Bjorn, for sharing this letter. My heart goes out to all the good people all over the world, but especially to those in New York and Madrid and London and Cairo who have had to survive in such close proximity to these outrages. And to all those people who are their friends.
There have been so many close calls for so many people...
